Privacy Policy

We hold the details you give us so that we can quote and carry out roofing work: your name, phone number, email, address or postcode, and what you have told us about the roof. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interest. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to anyone outside our own systems.

In one paragraph

You ring us or fill in the form. We write down enough to find your house and understand your roof. We use it to survey, quote, do the work and invoice. It sits in our system, we keep it for as long as we might need it for a guarantee claim or for tax records, and then it goes. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

What we end up holding

From the quote form: your name, your phone number, your email address, your postcode or address, and whatever you type into the message box about the roof.

From a phone call: the same information, written down by whoever answered.

From a survey: photographs of your roof, measurements, notes on the property and the quote we produced from them. Roof photographs can include the neighbouring properties visible from the scaffold, which is unavoidable when photographing a terrace.

From the job itself: invoices, payment records, the guarantee we issued and any correspondence about the work.

The website itself is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Where the spam check on the form is switched on, it processes your IP address briefly to confirm a person rather than a bot is submitting. Server logs may hold an IP address for a short period as part of normal hosting operation.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Under UK GDPR our lawful basis for handling an enquiry is legitimate interest. You contacted a roofing company and asked for a quote, so responding to you, surveying the roof, pricing the work and following up once is what you would reasonably expect.

Once you accept a quote and we start work, we are also handling your information to perform a contract with you.

Some of it we keep because the law says we have to, which is the lawful basis of legal obligation. Invoices and accounting records fall into that category.

If we ever want to send you marketing that goes beyond following up on your own enquiry, we will ask for your consent first and you will be able to withdraw it at any time.

Who sees it

Our own people, and the software we run the business on.

That means a customer record system holding your contact details and job history, an email provider, and accounting software for invoices and payments. Those suppliers process the data on our instructions under a contract and they cannot use it for their own purposes.

Where a job involves a scaffold company or a skip supplier, they get the address and a contact number so they can deliver. That is the only time your details leave our own systems, and they get nothing beyond what the delivery requires.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with other trades for marketing. We do not pass it to data brokers or lead generation companies.

How long it stays

Enquiries that never became jobs: two years from your last contact with us, then deleted.

Completed jobs: six years after the work finishes, so that a guarantee claim, a dispute or an insurance query can be dealt with properly. Photographs of the work are kept for the same period.

Invoices and accounting records: six years after the end of the relevant accounting period, because HMRC requires it.

Job photographs are only used publicly with your permission, and we will always ask separately for that.

Cookies and measurement

This website does not set advertising cookies and does not track you across other sites. There is no advertising network code on these pages.

The anti spam check on the quote form may set a short lived cookie from Cloudflare when it is enabled. It exists to stop automated submissions.

If we add analytics later, it will be configured to measure page visits without identifying individuals, and this section will be updated before it goes live.

What you can ask us to do

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct anything wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to our use of legitimate interest as a basis for holding it.

Email or ring us using the contact details on this site and say what you want. We will deal with it within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we send personal information out, which usually means answering a question about a job we did for you.

If you ask for deletion while a job is live or a guarantee is running, we will explain what we have to keep and why, and delete the rest.

If you are unhappy with our answer

Tell us first and give us the chance to sort it out. If you are still unhappy, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the UK supervisory authority for data protection. The ICO can be reached at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
